Just wanted to pop in and share a quick tutorial that I mentioned last week.
What you need:
:: Pear Stencil (provided for you below as a downloadable pdf.)
:: 6″ by 6″ square cork board
:: About 7″ by 7″ square piece of burlap
:: Craft paint (I used Crafter’s Acrylic color: Sandstone mixed with some white acrylic paint)
:: Scissors
:: Glue gun
:: Sponge brush
:: White gel pen
:: ribbon
STEP 1:
Begin by printing off the stencil I provided below and use an x- acto knife to cut it out (or if you would like, you can also poke through the center and cut the pear out from the center). I recommend using a thicker paper such as card stock so that it will stay flat while you are painting.
STEP 2:
Place your cork board (or you could just use cardboard) on your burlap and cut out a piece of fabric that is a little bigger than your board, leaving enough on the sides to wrap around to the back.
STEP 3:
Place your cork board face down on the piece of fabric and glue the edges of the fabric around the back being careful to fold the corners like you are wrapping a gift to prevent bunchy corners
STEP 4:
Tie a piece of ribbon in a small bow and place a dab of hot glue on the back of the bow to ensure it stays tied, then glue the ends of your ribbon to the back of your fabric covered board
STEP 5:
Place your pear stencil in the middle of the front of your board and use a sponge or sponge brush to fill in the inside of the stencil with paint (mix the paint to make whatever color you like the best)
STEP 6:
Use a permanent marker or gel pen to write a couple inspiring words on your pear… or a whole phrase if you so desire!

Cute! I need to remember this one.
Thanks Julie!:) its fun to think about all the different possibilities… larger cork boards, different fabric, various stencils, etc.:) the possibilities are endless!:)
