Wow, what a full and exciting weekend we had! We had such an amazing time celebrating the upcoming marriage of Jessica (my sister) to Jason (my brother-in-law to be) at the bridal shower. I am so excited to share some photos with you.

I really enjoyed creating the invitations for the shower, and hope to do some more of this kind of designing in the future!:)
This is the front and back of the invitation
This is the inside of the invitation…before the rest of the writing was added (there was a poem on the left hand-side and the right-hand side had information that extended to the bottom of the card)

All the photographs you will see in this post were taken by Lauren Nobile, a friend and full time photographer. She loves capturing special memories from events like weddings and band concerts, to moments in time like family and individual portraits. Learn more about her by checking out her website here and facebook page here. And, A big thank you again Lauren!:)
I hope to have some tutorials for you this week highlighting some of the decor projects we put together for the shower, but for now, enjoy some glimpses into a wonderful celebration!:)
I love how portable chalkboards can be… We brought this framed chalkboard with us to use and it worked out so well! …other than the fact that we forgot about it until 5 minutes before the shower started and had to write quickly… it’s good for us perfectionist types to do once in a while!;)
Banchetti’s beautiful facility where we had the shower
gift table with J&J bunting
Center pieces: burlap and lace charger, lace covered mason jars, satin fabric flowers, and baby’s breath, and vintage paper hearts
“J” for Jessica and Jason. Made from coffee filters and satin fabric flowers
Burlap bunting with lace
Delicious desserts
Who knows Jason and Jessica the best… some fun trivia games
Craft time: everyone brought their favorite recipe to the shower and created a page for J&J’s Kitchen recipe book
Everyone did a beautiful job!:)
“Love beyond Measure” heart measuring spoon favors with a favorite recipe from J&J’s Kitchen:)
The soon to be bride and groom!:)
Mom and daughters!:)
All the bridesmaids (minus one)
Sisters!
I had so much fun creating the invitations for the shower and making the decorations. I was reminded once again my easy tendency towards perfection… the need for everything to be perfect. The pressure I can put on myself totally takes away from the purpose of why I am creating or making something. And so, as I found myself at that place more than a handful of times through this process of preparing for the shower, I was thankful that the Lord continually reminded me that it’s not about me, what I can do the best. I was continually humbled and thankful that God helped me to be reminded of the big picture, that everything I do.. it’s for His glory and this season of celebration is about His love, and that is so easily missed when I am focused on myself.:) So, I am so thankful for the opportunity I had to create and be reminded once again of the bigger picture!:)
It was truly a wonderful time of celebration and I am so excited for Jason and Jessica as they look towards marriage!!:)
As I mentioned above, this week (and perhaps into early next week), I hope to have some tutorials on some of the projects you have seen in the pictures… specifically, the burlap and lace chargers, the coffee filter “J,” and the mason jar center pieces.:)
I hope you enjoyed a glimpse into this wonderful celebration!:)

You did a FANTASTIC job decorating. I love the vintage paper hearts. What a great add to the center pieces (which are beautiful BTW). I am simply amazed at your artistic use of coffee filters. How extraordinary! That huge letter “J” was totally cool. It was a very beautiful shower. Congratulations on a job well done Melissa.
Susan
Thank you so much Susan! I really love coffee filters and am amazed every time I use them for some project.. I never would have thought coffee filters would create such a beautiful look! Ever since I did a wreath out of coffee filters from a tutorial, I have been exploring with them! so fun!:)
