Burlap and Lace Charger Tutorial

Burlap and Lace Charger Tutorial

I am excited to share with you a tutorial of the burlap chargers we made for the bridal shower.  Prior to this project, we had been talking about making chargers to use for place settings, when we had friends over for meals, etc.  Well, it just so happens that planning for this bridal shower gave us a push to finally make them, because we thought they would be a nice added accent to the bridal shower decor!:)  So, although these are technically considered burlap and lace chargers, they proved to be wonderful centerpiece mats as well.  I love that these are officially multipurpose burlap chargers (I just get excited about finding multiple uses for things).  You can make these in all different sizes, using various fabrics and laces… the possibilities are endless!:)

I hope you enjoy trying it out yourself!:)

What you will need:

::A plate (I used a plate that measures about 38″ around)

:: Any color burlap you wish to use (I got mine from Joann fabric. You could get burlap from any craft store I believe, and I think walmart has burlap also)

*I made 10 burlap and lace chargers using 2 yards of burlap.  If you wanted to make less, I believe I was able to fit 5 chargers per 1 yard

::  Any kind of lace you like

*each burlap circle required 41.2″ (roughly 3 1/2 ft.) of lace.  That measurement is only for one burlap circle, so adjust according to what you will need

*It helps if you iron the burlap before beginning (as you can see, I am not always patient enough to take the time to iron first ;))

  1. I’ve always been a huge fan of burlap and brown postal paper. This is a wonderful idea that looks great and doesn’t even require sewing. Thank you for sharing your “tricks of the trade”.
