I have always loved the beauty and softness of watercolors. As much as I love watercolors, up until this week, I had only tried painting with them once. My husband, Jesse, had taken me on a surprise art lesson around the time we got engaged and we painted with watercolors, but I have not tried since then. I was a little apprehensive about trying them only because I remembered really liking the lesson, but also remember it being quite challenging for me. This week as I ventured into exploring watercolors, I found that I really enjoy working in this medium… Watercolors are definitely not as forgiving as acrylics (which are primarily what I paint with), but it is good for me to learn to embrace this unpredictability and work, choosing to pursue it rather than avoiding watercolors out of fear that I may completely mess up a piece!:) Really good for a perfectionist like me!:) “mistakes” are beautiful… it just all depends on how you see them!:) I wanted to share with you the painting I began working on this week… I love the translucent appearance that watercolors allow and I hope to explore more watercolor painting in the future!
Have a wonderful weekend!:)

So lovely!
Thank you so much!:) Thanks for stopping by!
love the powerfully deep, dreamy blend that watercolors impart … and I’m not even an artist!
Yes! I love the depth that watercolors give also!:)Thank you for taking time to comment!:)
This year I am dedicated to learning watercolors, too…for all the same reasons…and I like so far how the unpredictability creates more possibilities and we can embrace them…
Thanks for stopping by! I would love to hear more about what you learn and create during your process of learning watercolors!:)
Love the translucency, too.
Reminds me of a Degas work!

Yes… the translucency that watercolors create is really beautiful…something simple, yet so deep. Thanks for stopping by!
Your watercolor is gorgeous! Stopped by from Studio JRU.
Thank you so much Paula! Come back again!:)
So very lovely, I love her. HPPF!
Thank you so much Kim!:)
Your sepia watercolor is gorgeous. Sometimes classes intimidate me because the teacher gives out dos and don’ts applying to watercolors. I have had to tell myself that my method may not be like hers/his but it is my method. I don’t think there has to be a list of no-nos when it comes to art. That is one benefit I find to PPF. We see far more different types of art than just looking through art books or taking a class.
Thank you Faye!:) I agree… creating doesn’t necessarily have to follow the rules.:) I love that about creating!!!
This is Awesome!!! We need to talk about buying a collection of your water colors in the future if you have more ideas!!!
Appreciate that it is subtle but maintains great interest!
